The Fall semester is in full swing and it’s much too easy to get caught up in the commotion. It’s always difficult to get organized, but once you are everything tends to run much more smoothly. Start the new school year off with confidence and stay calm with these simple organization tips!
1. Buy a planner!
A planner makes keeping track of everything including classes, homework, social events and work a little simpler. Start to write down your plans at the beginning of every month and fill in the blanks as the month goes on. To make planning a little more fun, color coordinate, doodle or buy some cute stickers to decorate your planner with!
2. Make to-do lists.
This was a lifesaver my first year of university. Make a to-do list of everything you have to do day by day and put it either in your planner, your phone, or on a sticky note on the fridge! Crossing off something as simple as “make your bed” can fuel you with a ton of motivation to cross off that next item on the list!
3. Focus!
There’s no use for any of these tips if you’re not paying attention in class! Drink plenty of water and try to take classes that you are actually interested in. It can be difficult to focus when there is so much going on outside of classes. Nevertheless, even if it doesn’t feel like it sometimes, learning is what you’re really here for.
4. Before bed, put everything back where it belongs!
Make sure all of your books for tomorrow’s classes are in your bag and ready to go for the next morning. I’ve found this extremely helpful—especially when I wake up late and am running around trying to get ready quickly. Not to mention, it will let you get a few more minutes of sleep in the morning!
Getting organized can be super annoying to start, but in the long run it has saved me so much time and helped me dodge a lot of stress. Starting off with these super simple tips can lead way to a successful semester!
