A lot of people think of fashion as frivolous. To be fashionable is to be trendy, and to put a look before a function, or so the story goes. To be honest, this seems a little one-sided to me, and I can’t say I agree. So, with that in mind, let’s talk about shoes:
I am not always the biggest fan of shoes. In the summer, keeping shoes on me is harder than keeping a popsicle frozen. But in the winter, the value of a gorgeous pair of winter boots is really incomparable. Making sure that you have something waterproof and warm is incredibly important. Whether it is fuzzy on the inside or requires a pair leg warmers is up to you, but there are tons of ways in which to be practical in your boots, as well as fabulous. Personally, I have to say that one can never have enough boots in the wintertime, especially at IUP. With the cold temperatures, the constant and unpredictable slushy precipitation, and the risks of hypothermia and frostbite, I have to say: my favorite pair of winter boots is exactly why I don’t believe that fashion is the antithesis of practicality. My boots are some of the prettiest things I own, and they keep me safe and warm!
