Summer Goals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Summer is almost upon us, for some that means binging on Netflix and not moving off of the couch, for others that means jobs and added responsibility. To make sure we don’t waste our whole summer away watching Grey’s Anatomy for the fourth time, it would bode better to make a plan. Being active and making decisions that both benefit us in the short term and long term are great ways to make the most out of our summer.

I agree that finals drain us emotionally, mentally, and physically but three months of recovery time is a little over board. To make a plan for how to spend your summer you should pinpoint certain things that you want to learn, know, and do. For instance, you might want to learn a language, save some money, explore a new place, or get in shape. All of these things are possible but they need to be thought out and well organized. It could be helpful to set mini goals or benchmarks for yourself to meet by a certain date. By doing this, you will be keeping yourself on track to meet your large goal.

Being organized is extremely important when it comes to tasks that are required of us. Keeping a planner or at least writing down what you want to achieve is a great way to jumpstart your way into accomplishing a goal. Plus once you’re in the habit of being organized those skills can positively affect other areas of your life.

However, an organized well thought out plan will do no good if you do not act upon it. Although it may be difficult or tedious, tasks only get achieved by sticking to the plan. Make sure that you are on top of your small goals so you continue to make progress. In the long run, accomplishing goals small or large feels great. Let’s all achieve something this summer that benefits our lives.

Hi everyone! I'm an early childhood and special education major. I'm also in my junior year. I love to binge watch netflix and bake yummy foods. Looking forward to meeting everyone and writing about some womanly things.
