Maggie Shotts: Graduate English Secretary

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Maggie Shotts

Being the Graduate English Secretary for IUP keeps you on your toes. Maggie Shotts is the current secretary for IUP Graduate English department, and she is mighty. Being no stranger to IUP, Maggie has lived in Indiana for years and has seen IUP grow in many ways.

Being her assistant for another year has been a learning experience. Shotts helps the professors and program directors organize five open graduate programs, two Doctorate and three Master programs, Shotts works with the current and incoming students to make sure they understand and fit into their programs. Organizing meetings, orientations, class changes, and conferences can be a handful sometimes, but Maggie enjoys her job.

Shotts is planning on retiring soon, but that is not slowing her down. Shotts studied Spanish, enjoys travel and reading on her kindle, and stays active by walking on her lunch break.

If you happen to be interested in an English Graduate Program, Maggie will be happy to help you, or just stop in and say hello.
