Five Great Halloween Party Themes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

It’s that time of the year where being scared is required , candy is a food group, and partying is nothing without costumes and crazy snacks. Halloween parties are the best time of the year and nobody loves going to parties more than college students.

Halloween parties are always exciting if you have a theme. So, if you’re thinking about throwing a Halloween party, here are some great Halloween themes:

1) Haunted House

Halloween is defined by haunted houses. Many individuals spend money on visiting haunted houses during the Halloween holiday. Give your friends the haunted house experience for free by decorating your house with spooky decorations and thrill-fulfilling activities.

Decorate the front of your house with fake spider webs, and fake tombstones.  Tell you guests to dress as ghost, spirits, and monsters.  Provide spooky snacks such as Creepy Dead Finger sandwiches, chocolate spider cupcakes, and a smoking punch bowl.

2) Zombie Apocalypse

Who doesn’t love Zombies? Everybody loves Zombies. The Walking Dead, Zombieland, World War Z and Warm Bodies have proven that zombies theme anything is better than nothing. Throw a party dedicated to the undead and have a bloodcurdling time!

Decorate your place as a battle field by putting fake blood, guts, and body parts all over your house. Tell your guests to dress as heroic zombie defeaters and (of course) zombies. Also, provide blood-tasty treats such as individual brain cupcakes, bloody brain cake, and “blood” punch.

3) Heroes and Villains

Superheroes: the Avengers, Batman, Superman, and Spiderman. These are heroes that we always enjoy and cheer on. Villains: the Joker, Loki, and the Green Goblin. We hate them, but somehow can’t get enough of them either. People love playing heroes so throw a party dedicated to the good guys, but don’t forget about the bad guys. Remember, the hero would be nothing without the villain.

Decorate you place like a huge comic book. Put DC and Marvel posters all around the walls. Tell your guests to dress as heroes, sidekicks, and villains. Also provide heroic snacks such as Superhero buckets filled with candy, and bat shaped cookies.

4) Food Theme

Everyone loves food and every Halloween party doesn’t have to be scary. Sometimes people only go to parties so they can eat and drink. Have your guests decorate their favorite food and drinks and dive into an all you can eat buffet.

Decorate you house with regular party decorations and invite your guest to bring foods, candy, and drinks.

5) Black and Orange Theme

What would Halloween be without the traditional black and orange? A black and orange party is the colorful traditional Halloween party you have always wanted as a college student.

Decorate your place with black and orange ribbons, wallpaper, and plates. tell your  guests  to dress ln black and orange clothing. Also provide colorful snacks such as black and orange cakes, orange soda drinks, and dark chocolate.

Have a great Halloween party because it only comes once a year.
