Do you love candles? Do you have a friend who loves candles? How about multiple friends? Can you spare approximately 15 minutes? Do you want to create a shrine for you favorite celebrity but don’t have any candles to complete it? If you answered “yes” to at least one of the following, then you should check out this DIY candle tutorial video!

Products needed:

  • Mason jar (or you could recycle an old glass jar for free)
  • Crisco
  • Scented Essential Oil of choice
  • Crayons
  • 100% cotton string
  • Hardware nut or a bolt
  • Wooden skewer stick

Time to get crafty:

  1. Clean the glass jar thoroughly
  2. Scoop the Crisco into the jar leaving about an inch of space from the top
  3. Microwave jar for 2 minutes
  4. Tear off paper crayon labels and melt the crayons in the microwave
  5. Pour and mix the melted crayons into the jar.
  6. Add a tablespoon of essential oil and mix
  7. Tie one end of the string to the nut or bolt
  8. Drop the nut in the center of the jar and loop string around the skewer to set the wick
  9. Freeze for 30 minutes
  10. Cut the string, leaving 1/4 inch for the wick

Don’t be fooled, those may look like Yankee Candles but they were actually homemade by yours truly.
