Blue Lights on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

IUP’s campus is equipped with a “blue light system.” No matter where you are on campus, you should always be able to see one of these posts with a blue light. If you find yourself in an emergency, you can hit the button on the post and it will alert the police. Keep moving and keep hitting the buttons as you get to the posts so the police can locate you and take care of the situation. These emergency stations give students peace of mind when walking through campus, especially at night, and aim to reduce incidents of violent crime and sexual assault. To support the cause of sexual assault awareness, consider participating in Take Back the Night on April 15. There will be a march and candlelight vigil in honor of survivors.
