5 Tips On Staying Productive During Vacation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ICU (Japan) chapter.

As it is the summer vacation, studying motivation must be pretty low for almost everyone, including me. Since we all want to have a fun and memorable summer, our high productivity is necessary. So, here are some tips on how you can focus and get decent work done without spending unnecessary time.

build your routine

We all have our own characteristics. For example, some people work better in the morning and others at night. People who want to study alone go to libraries; however, drinking is often not allowed. As I cannot get work done without having something to drink beside me, I go to cafes when I want to work alone. That is another option for people like me.

Make yourself comfortable

I like using cute stationery because it gives me the motivation to study. Everyone has something that becomes a motivation. So you should find “that something” if you have not got one yet. That way, you can get to work in your most comfortable situation.

Think about a treat that you give yourself after studying

It could be anything. It does not matter how small the treat is, even better if it is visual. Here is an example. When expecting a parcel that arrives today, you can focus so much better than you usually do. Or, when it’s the day before going out with your friends, the excitement encourages you to get the work done.

listen to music if it helps you

Some research says that listening to music helps people focus and study better, whereas others say that listening to music distracts you. For me, listening or even singing songs helps me a lot to get work done. So, if you think music helps you, you should listen to music, and if you don’t, you should not.

All these things above have something in common- it is really up to you to find out what fits you the most and building your routine. I hope this article helps you in some way to spend a nice summer holiday.
