College Life Hacks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

1. Google Translate

To avoid grammar mistakes when writing a paper, copy and paste it in Google translate and listen to it out loud. When rereading our work, we tend to overlook mistakes because we read it exactly how we intended for it to sound. Google translate is perfect for catching any little mistakes. Just remember to keep the setting on “from English” and “to English”.

2. Label your cords!

Surge protects are a major key for your dorm room. But, sometimes we plug so many different cords in them making it nearly impossible to distinguish which is which. Try labeling your cords with bread clips and a permanent market. No more accidentally unplugging your television!

3. Trash bag hack

Tired of your trash bags falling back into the can? Use command hooks to keep the bags in place. Doing this will also give your trash can a cleaner and neater look.

4. Command hooks are your friend!

If you find yourself overwhelmed with organizing your hair tools, use command hooks on either a wall or on the inside of a cabinet/closet door and hang them there. This leaves room on your vanity for other things like big pile of unorganized makeup!

5. Organize your makeup

If you took my advice in life hack number 4, then you’ll love number 5! Instead of buying expensive makeup organizers. Go to your local Walmart or target and get the smallest storage drawers they have. They’ll run you about 5 bucks and are stackable if you need more room.
