Devos is a 59 year-old Michigan native and belongs to one of the richest families in the US. Her and her family have been big financial contributors to the republican party for years. She works with the Windquest Group, which is a investment management firm. She is now Trump’s nomination for the Education Secretary but she shouldn’t be because…
- She has no experience working in Education. Devos has never worked for any type of school or education program. She has never attended or sent her children to public schooling so she is unaware of how things work. She also has no experience with financial aid or student loans when it comes to higher education.
- She is against public schooling. Devos has worked to get vouchers for religious private school which in turn took money from public school. She has also pushed for “School Choice schemes” and for candidates that support them.
- She doesn’t have the best interest for some students in mind. She is an extremely religious person and there is evidence of her family donating lots of money to ati-LGBQT+ causes. Some wonder that with her beliefs will she do everything in her power to protect those students.
- She has no plans to better or fix the current education system and issues During her case she dodged and gave generic answers when asked about her plans to fix certain issues. If Devos is awarded the role of being education secretary we are in a world of trouble when it comes to education.
