What I Learned During my Time as a Her Campus Writer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

Writing for Her Campus for almost two years has been an incredible opportunity for which I’m grateful. I’ve been able to connect with and meet so many amazing women that have inspired me. I was able to speak my mind openly without being judged, and I was able to bring awareness to issues that are important to me.

While I’ve learned practical skills such as time management and balancing work, school and writing, I’ve also learned a lot about myself in the process of it all.

I’ve learned to not be afraid to share my opinions on what I think are important issues. As women, we’re often told that our opinions don’t hold any value. Writing for Her Campus taught me that anything I say does hold value and that it’s worth sharing my thoughts.

I’ve learned that if I’m passionate about something, I should write about it and share my piece. There have been so many articles that I’m proud of because they came from a place where I was incredibly passionate about that topic.

Lastly, I learned that Her Campus, especially the girls on the George Mason team, are the most amazing group of women I’ve ever met. They’re so inspiring, passionate and dedicated to bringing awareness and speaking on things that definitely need more attention in society. Life got in the way for me, but I want them to know that I have always valued what they said and that they’ve inspired me to do and be better.

During my time as a writer for Her Campus, I’ve learned a lot of important lessons that I’ll continue to carry in my academic and professional career. Her Campus will always hold a special piece of my heart. The lessons I’ve gained from my time in this chapter have been amazing. I’ll always be grateful for all the opportunities this chapter has given me to speak my mind.

I’ll always love Her Campus, I am sad that I won’t be writing anymore but life has a different plan for everyone.

To the Her Campus girls, thank you all for being so amazing and beautiful. You’ve made this experience worthwhile and I know this chapter is going to do nothing but wonderful things.
