Our world is slowly, but progressively getting worse. When comes to pollution on the Earth, who is to blame? Do we blame the large corporations for mass producing these products? Or do we blame ourselves for using the products and making the demand for them to increase?

Usually, when one person uses plastic they get these thoughts in their head that rationalize their plastic usage. “Well it is just one bottle of water,” or “this straw is so small how it really hurt,” or “I will stop using plastics after this.” It is different when you have one person saying this, not that it makes things right. However, something people do notrealize that 7.7 billion other people are saying this as well. By using their products, we are just helping them make more. People know the world is dying, yet they continue to use the very same products that are destroying the world. Your contribution, no matter how small or how many times you use it, is still harming the Earth.

Large corporations contribute to plastic pollution more than anyone. However, when you think about it, corporations are controlled by people who choose to mass produce their products. These people, possibly knowing the circumstances of the earth, choose to continue to produce these products. Not only do they continue to produce these products but they use huge factors to as well. Factors have a dump that leads straight to a river or ocean. Although they can be fined for doing this, they just pay the fee and continue. The smoke coming from these corporations are polluting our air. They are most definitely at fault for multiple reasons. One is that they are just polluting the Earth. Secondly, the people who own these corporations have the power to shut them down but they chose not to. Their contribution, even bigger than ours is still harming the Earth.

So when it comes to playing the blame game, we are all to blame. Big corporations and all others are in the fault. Our government has power but are not doing anything about it. Our corporations have power and are doing nothing. We, as a whole, have power and are doing absolutely nothing. Why can we just not use plastic? Stop supporting these plastic using companies and get on the paper train!

Happy Earth Month, collegiettes!
