Women are capable of so many amazing things. They face so many adversities, especially in the music business and yet they still produce some of the greatest songs or covers. Here’s a list of 10 genius women (I love) in the music business.

1. Beyoncé

Queen Bey! I have loved her since I was in elementary school. She has increasingly gotten popular as the years have gone by. She has performed in the Superbowl and sells out concerts almost every time she has one. Her group of fans are loyal and are labeled as the Bey Hive by many. She performed at Coachella and had the first Netflix special for such an event. Her performance gave a wonderful tribute to black culture and HBCU life. While doing all this, she works on her marriage constantly and takes care of her 3 children.

2. Adele

She set firrrre to the rain! Adele has such a beautiful voice. I remember all of the girls in my eighth-grade chorus class singing her songs 24/7. Adele had surgery for throat problems in 2011, I imagine that may have been scary being that her whole career revolves around singing. She definitely recovered; I remember in 2013, she sang “Skyfall” at the Oscars. I got chills all over my body listening to the song.

3. Mariah Carey

High notes. That’s all I can say. This woman can hit high notes like nobody’s business. Her Christmas album continues to be top on the charts every year whenever the holiday season comes around.

4. Alicia Keys

I always loved Alicia Keys cause her songs represented poetry to me. The way she sang them, the way she presented them in videos, all of it is poetry. She is very talented and plays many instruments like the piano. She showcases this gift of singing and playing the piano in many of her videos, it’s her signature.

5. Ariana Grande

I was first introduced to her through a show called “Victorious.” She played a character named Cat who seemed ditzy but could sing like nobodies’ business. After this show ended her popularity as a music artist went crazy. I love all of her songs. She can hit those high notes too.

6. Lindsey Stirling

She’s not a singer. She’s a violinist and very badass. Her videos are so unique and the way she masters her violin is crazy.

7. Andra Day

I love the commercial, “Someday At Christmas”, she’s in it with Stevie Wonder. They sing together and it causes a lot of nostalgia in me. Her voice itself is so powerful, it holds a message. “Rise Up” is one of her most popular songs and the video makes me cry whenever I see it.

8. Chloe Flower

I just discovered her! When Cardi B performed at the Grammy’s she was the pianist and she played with such enthusiasm that I had to search her up. She is wonderful at playing the piano.

9. Christina Aguilera

I love her sassiness! In every one of her videos, she exudes a certain sassiness that is infectious. Her voice is off the charts, her high notes crazy. In 2007, she performed “It’s A Man’s World” at the Grammy’s and blew everyone away. Every time I watch the video, I get goosebumps at her cover of the song.

10. Ari Lennox

She’s a newer artist and has such an old-timey voice. Whenever I hear her singing, she takes me back in time and I absolutely love the feeling. My favorite song is “Shea Butter Baby.”

These women have families and personal lives and yet somehow manage to continue in the limelight. People feel entitled to their everyday lives and judge all of their decisions. They’re all strong and beautiful musicians!
