How to Elevate Your Fall Wardrobe

Fall means that it’s officially spooky season, people are putting pumpkin in everything, and most importantly, it’s another opportunity for a wardrobe makeover. I am a huge fashion lover, and I make sure to have all the essentials to participate in fall trends while also having pieces I will treasure for years to come.

I curated most of the basics I need for this season and wanted to share some of my favorite tips for building a perfect, versatile fall wardrobe.

Black Tights

Black tights dress up almost any outfit. I like tights that have some sort of pattern like small black dots or lines down the sides. They are another way to add a small statement to your outfit. Black tights are also perfect for repurposing skirts that would normally be reserved for summer. A neutral-colored or checkered skirt with black tights and a sweater is perfect for a brisk fall day. Just add some Doc Martens, and you’re good to go.

Blazers

One of my favorite pieces of clothing I own is my black leather blazer. I thrifted it back home in Colorado, and I probably wear it at least twice a week. I have been wearing it for events where the dress is business casual, but also just for normal school days. It’s very versatile, and it goes with so many different outfits. It will also last forever, so it’s a good investment. It makes me feel like I could be walking through the streets of Paris, and I don’t think anything could be better than that.

Slacks

I don’t think slacks should be limited to the workplace—they can also be super fun! I think pairing tan slacks with a white top is beautiful and classic, but I also love colorful options. I have a pair of bright green slacks that I absolutely adore. I love that I can wear them with a crop top or sweater depending on the event. I also get so many compliments on them!

Corsets or Lingerie for Layering

I love the look of lingerie tops over t-shirts or turtlenecks. They are super easy to thrift, and if you go to the right places, you can find some beautiful pieces. I think they add a very elegant, romantic feel to your outfit. I have a large collection of these tops, and I enjoy experimenting with what other tops to pair them with or just wearing them by themselves.

Colors to Keep in Mind

According to L’Officiel, the top three colors of fall 2021 are yellow, orange and pink. These colors remind me more of spring, but I’m very excited about them. I love using vibrant color combinations to set my outfit apart from the crowd. I also have great pieces from the summer that are in these colors, so I’m excited to continue wearing them.

One of the most important parts of fashion is self-expression. I hope that you find the perfect fall outfits that make you feel like you.
