I’m always on the hunt for new skincare to try out. It’s refreshing to add something new to your routine, so when our chapter was chosen to try the new Micellar Foaming Cleanser from Garnier I was excited. It claims to be gentle enough to use on sensitive skin, yet effective enough to remove makeup as well as clean the face of dirt and oils. Since I wear makeup pretty often, I knew this product had the potential to be a new addition. I would use this to replace the cleanser I usually use after wearing makeup, my Noxema Classic Clean Deep Cleanser, which can be a bit harsh sometimes. My first time trying, I had on a full face of makeup, which had been worn for a full day of wear (about 8-9 hours). This was my time to put this product to the test. I started off with my usual makeup remover, Jergen’s All Purpose Face Cream, and removed the first most difficult layer of makeup. Next, I used my PuriFect Rose Micellar Cleansing Water with a cotton pad to remove mascara and any eyeliner I still had around my eyes. Finally, I used the Garnier Micellar Foaming Gel Cleanser. It came out as a clear, scentless gel. I usually like products with a bit of smell because I find them therapeutic, but since this one is also formulated for sensitive skin I understood. I began washing, using my hands in a circular motion for a minuet (60 second rule). I rinsed off and used a white towel to measure its effectiveness of removing any leftover makeup and oil from the day and I was pleasantly surprised. The towel had no trace of makeup! My face didn’t feel super striped of its own natural oils, it felt fresh and clean after a long hot day of having foundation on top of it. To finish off, I used my Freeman Manuka Honey and Tee Tree Oil Mask, followed up with my Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Toner, and moisturized with my Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream to end my night. Overall, I can see myself using the Garnier Micellar Foaming Gel Cleanser in my routine. It cleansed my face, without stripping it, which is important for someone with acne prone skin. The fact that is was gentle yet effective immediately sold me, and this product has entered my nightly routine. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
