If You’re An Introvert, Here’s a List of 5 Ideas for You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

Self care is becoming very popular these days. Many celebrities and magazines, such as Forbes, are promoting self care and its importance. I have recently been focusing on self care and its importance in regard to my first quarter of college and my first “finals week”, but since I am more of an introvert than an extrovert, I never feel like going out to social events. I just feel awkward most of the time – thinking to myself “I would rather be in my pajamas right now watching a movie.” I have come across a few ideas that I have either tried or want to try that would make me much happier than participating in social hour.

1. Coloring

I bought a coloring book at CWU’s Wildcat shop a few weeks ago and whenever I feel stressed or frustrated, I take a break and color. It really helps with stress and frustration, as well as a way to feel happy!

2. Face masks

Wow! These have changed my life! Face masks are a great way to feel relaxed and a great way to take care of your skin at the same time. I prefer to use ones that are fruit based because they leave me feeling so re-energized!

3. Rewards

Rewarding yourself for accomplishing small things makes you feel so much better – things like a coffee, ice cream, or even something bigger like getting your nails done. You are a superstar! Treat yourself like one!

4. Give yourself a “Netflix Day”

Some days you’re just go-go-go and you need a break at the end of the day. Instead of going out with friends and making you even more exhausted than you already were, opt for an alternative, healthier option that gives you a good amount of sleep. Plan out a day, where you have no homework or commitments, and just relax and catch up on your favorite shows without any worries!

5. Bake some sweets

No one ever felt nervous or awkward while baking cookies. Look up a simple recipe, for example chocolate chip cookies, or go pick up a box of brownie mix, and bake away. You could even combine this idea with Netflix and have a wonderful day!
