Staying Cute (But Weather Appropriate): Transitioning Your Clothes From Summer to Fall

As the weather starts getting chillier and the leaves being to change colors, you know it’s finally time for pumpkin spiced lattes and sweaters. Fall has finally arrived, but that doesn’t mean you have to put away your cute summer clothes just yet! These four clothing items will help you transition your summer outfits to more fall-appropriate outfits.

1. Warm cardigan

A fall must. You can easily layer this over a summer dress or over a tank top to make your outfit more appropriate for the chilly weather. A chunky knit will help keep you warm and if it’s neutral color, it’ll go with nearly everything in your closet.

2. Lightweight scarves

It may not be cold enough to bust out your fuzzy knit scarves from your closet just yet, so lightweight scarves are the perfect in-between. Scarves are a great way to add some warmth to your body and they also act as a great accessorizing piece. Just add a scarf to one of your staple summer outfits, throw on a cardigan, put on some cute shoes, and you’ll be ready to go! You can wear a lightweight scarf during the fall and even carry it over to the winter when it gets colder.

3. Sweater

Putting on a warm and cozy sweater is a fantastic way to instantly add another layer to your look. Try wearing a sweater over a sundress or pair it with a pair of flattering skinnies and you’ll be good to go. This cream colored sweater is neutral enough to pair with just about anything and easy to accessorize with.

4. Tights-

Adding a pair of basic tights will instantly help your transition your summer dress to a more fall-appropriate outfit. Basic black tights can be paired with nearly any dress, or even shorts if you prefer. If you’re feeling more fun, you can even try some floral tights or polka dot tights.

Most importantly, don’t forget to check the weather forecast before you plan your outfits!
