Products to Help you Start the Semester Right

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Concordia CA chapter.

Back to school has always been one of my favourite events. I love getting new school supplies and getting back into the schedule that I’m so familiar with. Now that we have started a new year, it’s also a good time to start things on the right foot as we advance into our studies. This list of products will hopefully be of great assistance to you this semester!

1. A good agenda

Most of us will have some sort of notebook to take down important dates, but do you have a good agenda? Having a planner that has week, month and year outlines is ideal because you can visually see what work needs to be done by the week, what is coming up for the month, and what to expect for the year. I find this to be a much more practical way of organizing my work, instead of having a planner that only has week views and having to flip between many pages to find due dates. Many good agendas can be found at Indigo!

2. A filled pencil case

I must add this to the list because I fall upon the number of people who exclusively use my laptop in class and find myself embarrassingly asking classmates for a pen when work is assigned. It should be a no-brainer, but it would be a good idea to have a stocked pencil case ready to go, even if you type your notes. Some things to include can be both pencils and pens, highlighters and an eraser. Getting sticky notes to add important reminders to either your agenda or laptop can be helpful too!

3. A reusable water bottle

With a full course load and early classes, I usually want to reach for a tea or coffee to power through the day. Unfortunately, this leads me to forget all about drinking water. Getting a practical, spill proof water bottle is a great product to have. There are fountains all over campus, which may persuade you to drink more!

4. A sturdy bag

I really love fashion, so I never use a backpack and instead opt for a tote bag as my school bag. This is totally fine, as long as your bag is sturdy and can hold all you need. I’ve stashed so much into my tote bag that I ended up getting pains in my shoulder from my bag being too heavy. Any bag that is to your liking should be completely fine, as long as it can fit the essentials that you will need for the day at school!

5. A binder or folder

You would be surprised at how many people I see shoving their handouts loosely into their bags at the end of a lecture! Being organized is a good way to keep yourself on track and to make sure you have all the materials needed to succeed in a class. I know that carrying a bulky binder around may feel very “high school,” but even a one-inch binder or pocket folder to organize your papers is a much better idea than stuffing them in your backpack and risking losing or ruining them.
