“Mocktails”

Nonalcoholic Cemetery Slime Punch Recipe—Spoonful.com

Ingredients:

2 liters diet root beer

24 gummy worms, plus more if desired

1 pint low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt

1 pint low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt

Directions

Arrange the gummy worms in a 12-compartment ice tray, letting them hang out over the edges of the tray. Fill with root beer and freeze at least four hours or overnight. With a small ice cream scoop, fill the bottom of a one-gallon punch bowl with scoops of both frozen yogurts, using the full container of each. Very slowly fill the punch bowl with root beer, which will foam up to create the “slime.” Float the wormy ice cubes on top of the punch. Fill each punch cup with a scoop of ice cream and an ice cube. Float additional worms on top of the punch or in each glass.

Rotten Apple Punch—Spoonful.com

Ingredients

Apple cider

Five 1/2-cup containers

Red and green food coloring

10 to 15 gummy worms

Punch bowl

Directions

Pour apple cider into all 5 small dishes, stopping about 1/2 inch from the top. Add 2 drops of red and 1 drop of green food coloring to each dish and stir until the colors have blended. Hang 2 or 3 gummy worms around the edge of each dish and place the dishes in the freezer. If you use more than 3 worms, the rotten apples won’t float as well. Freeze until the rotten apples are solid. Just before serving, slip the frozen wormy apples out of the dishes by setting them briefly in a few inches of warm water in your sink. Float the rotten apples in a large punch bowl filled with untinted cider. For added creepiness, drape the gummy worms over the edges of your serving bowl.

Fizzy Pumpkin—Thehouseofsmiths.com

Ingredients

Small canning jars

Decorative jar lids

Vinyl pumpkin face decals or black paper cutouts w/ glue

Orange Juice

Lemon-lime Soda

Pineapple Juice

Orange Sherbet

Directions

Apply your vinyl stickers onto your jar to make whatever pumpkin face you choose. Textured jars are a bit trickier to work with, because there are bumps and grooves, so you might want to pick a jar with a smooth finish. I’ve also seen simple black paper cutouts used for this project, with a bit of hot glue dabbed on the back to adhere them to the cups/glass. Mix 2 cups of orange juice and 1 cup of pineapple juice together in a pitcher. Scoop the orange sherbet into your jars, filling them up about 3/4ths of the way. Fill your jars halfway with the orange juice/pineapple mixture. Top the rest of your drink with lemon-lime soda, attach lids and add a green straw for the “stem” and you’re done!
