7 Ways To Celebrate Galentine’s Day With Your BFFs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clark chapter.

While everyone is preparing for Valentine’s Day with their baes, don’t forget your favorite girls for Galentine’s Day.

While everyone is preparing for Valentine’s Day with their baes, don’t forget your favorite girls for Galentine’s Day.

Fans of the hit-TV show Parks and Recreation should undoubtedly remember main character’s Leslie Knope’s day. Celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day, on February 13, Galentine’s Day is “the best day of the year,” as the episode of the same name said. It’s a day of “ladies celebrating ladies.”

Knope explains, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style.”

Here’s how are seven suggestions on how to celebrate with your gal pals this holiday:

1. Brunch

I mean, who doesn’t love food? And brunch is, as I would argue, the best meal ever. There are so many options nobody will feel left out. It’ll be a nice time to catch up and spend some time with your ladies.

2. DIY Gifts or Notes Of Appreciation

There are endless ideas of DIY gifts for Valentine’s Day, and they can easily be geared toward your besties. Notes of appreciation are always nice to give and receive. It’ll make you remember how amazing they are, but it will also make them feel loved and put a smile on their faces.

3. Get Your Nails Done

In accordance to another Parks and Recreation “holiday,” make sure to Treat Yo Self with your girls this Galentine’s Day. You deserve it.

4. Movie Night

Who doesn’t love a good movie binge? Five movies that aren’t too rom-com-y that I recommend are: “This Means War,” “Brides Maids,” “Legally Blonde,” “Hidden Figures,” and “Mulan.”

5. Go To The Mall

Treat Yo Self part two.

6. Karaoke

Sing to your heart’s desire. You’re surrounded by your best girls, let yourself be yourself. Have some fun. You all deserve it. And, hey, if you make a fool out of yourself while at it, you’ll all have something to laugh at next time you’re all together.

7. Bake Goods

This could be a delicious way to end the day. Who doesn’t love some sweets? And who else is better to bake food with than your best friends? (Treat Yo Self part three?)
