The Best Diary-Free Ice Cream

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cincinnati chapter.

Many people eat non-dairy ice cream, for many different reasons. Maybe you’re lactose intolerant, or you’re vegan, or maybe you just aren’t in the mod for all the calories from dairy today! Whatever the reason is, I feel you.

I switched from regular ice cream to the non-dairy kind last year and haven’t looked back since.

Well-known brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, as well as Jeni’s, are adding dairy-free ice cream to their selections and there are even companies that only dairy free ice cream!

Now, I have been a Ben & Jerry’s fan for as long as I can remember, so I was pretty thrilled when I saw their selection of non-dairy flavors.

With Ben and Jerry’s holistic roots in the food industry, coupled with their Vermont origin (the east coast is home to some of the highest percentages of vegans), it came as a surprise to no one when they launched their dairy free ice cream in 2019!

They currently have twelve available, and you can view all of them on their website.

I have a few favorites: Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and P.B. & Cookies (notice a chocolate theme?)

Each one is super decadent and rich and the perfect pick me up after you’ve had a bad day or if you’re on your period. Let’s be real, even if you are dairy free ice cream is the best comfort food.

The Ben & Jerry’s non-dairy “frozen treats” (as they are described on their website when you toggle over the flavors) are made with an almond milk base but still taste like they are ice cream! Seriously, it’s incredible, I can’t stress enough how much I love this stuff!

If you are dairy-free for any reason (or even if you aren’t and want to try something new!), I couldn’t recommend these enough.

If you are looking for some close by simply head over to Clifton Natural Food and start living your best dairy-free life today!
