8 Best Things about Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Case chapter.

It’s now officially fall! It seems that fall is the shortest season in Ohio, but that only makes all the great things about it so much more special. Here’s the list of all the best things about fall that do not include anything pumpkin flavored or spiced (cause I think that’s been said enough). Get pumped for the next two(ish) months, they’re going to be awesome.

1. No AC? No problem!

For those of us unlucky enough to be without air conditioning, we’ve been looking forward to fall for awhile. The weather is finally at a moderate temperature so we don’t have to live in front of our fan or starfish in our beds.

2. Scary Movies

30 nights of Halloween brings me great joy. Even if you’re not a fan of super scary mvoies, the movies on television finally shift away from rom-com (don’t get me wrong, totally a rom-com fan) and to movies themed on some different, darker things. Or they’re just rom-coms with a monster as the lead. Whatever. Diversity is all I ask.

Also: Hocus Pocus. Enough said.

3. Haunted Houses

Best first date ever. You find out right away if this person will protect you in times of peril or will use you as a human sheild to save him/herself from a man with a chainsaw. You can also find out if you’d make it in a scary movie (probably not.)

4. Halloween candy

Candy everywhere. Variety packs. They neever need to know if you’re buying all the candy for the neighborhood children or for your Saturday night solo netflix and chill.

5. Leaves

Mother nature really knows how to go out with a bang, huh?

6. Halloween costumes

One night out of the year you get to be someone else and wear clothes that are not at all acceptable anywhere else. I think I’m great but being Katy Perry is pretty sweet too.

7. Fall Clothes

I’ll miss sundresses and flip flops but let’s be honest nothing feels better than leggings and a hoodie. Do you have a six pack? Do you have a little wiggle jiggle? Who care! That sweater is super comfy and you look adorable. Also- Fall is a perfect time to show off your boots and/or scarf collection. Oh and flannels. I love flannels.

8. Halloween parties

Somehow they’re better. Maybe the fact we’re all in ridiculous clothing breaks down eve more social barriers. It’s kinda hard to be too intimidated to talk to a man dressed up as Super Mario or Fred Flinestone.

Or god forbid a human squirrel (they sell these by the way:)

Somewhere between Tina Belcher and Regina George. I love spending time with my friends, sisters, and puppies. I write for Case Western's Newspaper The Observer, Event Plan for my sorority, and walk doggies at the Animal Protective League.
