When we hear the word “accomplishment”, we tend to think about all the big stuff that we’ve done whether it’s winning a prestigious award or making it onto the Dean’s list for the first time. While the big victories deserve to be celebrated, we tend to forget about the little things that we accomplish every single day. Let’s face it: life is hard, and sometimes you just need a little celebration to make it through the day. Here are some small victories that you do every day that you should celebrate.

1. Waking up

Waking up is hard to do. The fact that you got out of bed today is impressive.Photo Courtesy of unsplash.com

2. Making it to class on time

Especially if you have an 8 am and just woke up five minutes before, that takes a lot of skill.

3. Doing the readings for a class

It’s hard to find the motivation to do things on your own, plus it takes a long time to get through a text. Props to you for being prepared for class.

4. Eating breakfast

It’s so easy to skip the first meal of the day or to just have an extra large coffee and call it good.  Sometimes taking the time to make sure your body is fueled is challenging. Good job for remembering to take care of your body.

5. Cooking your meal

It takes skill and time to cook. Well done for preparing your meal.

6. Choosing healthy alternatives

Good for you for choosing to grab an apple instead of that cookie.

7. Seeing a dog on campus

A cute puppy is sure to brighten up anyone’s day.

8. Talking to people

Sometimes socializing is hard to do and we want to shut people out. Be proud of putting yourself out there, whether it’s talking to someone new or catching up with a friend over lunch.

9. Participating in class

Let’s admit it: it’s intimidating to raise your hand and answer a question in class. It takes an extensive amount of courage to do so. Congrats for contributing to the class discussion.

10.  Making time for yourself

Probably one of the hardest things to do. We are so absorbed in always moving, that we forget to give ourselves a break. Feel good about yourself for taking a break. Photo Courtesy unsplash.com

Never forget to praise yourself for the little things you do.
