5 Emotions At The End Of The Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

YAY! We did it, guys! We made it! The end of the semester is a period with a lot of different feelings. This is because there are a lot of hurdles to jump over during this time. Even though it is almost summer, we still have to submit all our final assignments and take our final exams. Basically, it’s an emotional time. Here are some of the emotions we have at the end of the semester:

1. Exhaustion

I’m tired. My friends are tired. My professors are probably tired. Everyone worked so hard during the year. We put in some much effort to do well in our classes, have a social life, and take care of ourselves. We all need a long nap in the summer sun.

2. Stress

The semester coming to a close means we are just about to enter summer. It also means FINALS. We take everything we learn from the semester to take an exam that shapes our final grade. They are not fun, but at least summer is the light at the end of the tunnel.

3. Relief

With stress comes relief. Once we finish our final assignments and take our final exams, WE ARE DONE for this school year. The wave of relief is about to arrive. No more stress from schoolwork for a few months. We are almost there!

4. Sadness

The end the semester means the end of another fun school year in college. It also means we say goodbye to our friends for the summer. No more walking to their dorms and forcing them to get pizza with you, at least for a summer.

5. Joy

Summer is just around the corner. The anticipation for summer occupies the mind of all students as we think about the fun in the sun.  We also are so happy we survived another school year. When summer comes, take that time to decompress, relax, and think about what you want to accomplish for the next school year. Also, celebrate! During the summer, you don’t have any classes or homework to worry about (unless you’re taking summer classes). Enjoy the sun!

The end of the semester is such a tease. We can basically feel the stress-free lifestyle of summer, but we first have to finish the semester. Once we take our exams and turn in our assignments, we will be done. Don’t give up! You are almost done!
