As the weather cools off and fall sets in, movies are a great way to get in the fall spirit. When you have some extra time, here is a short list of a few of my favorite films that I associate with the fall season and holidays. It may seem like a random assortment, but nevertheless, here are my recommendations if you are looking for a fun fall-themed movie!

  1. Halloweentown

One of my Halloween favorites, Halloweentown, will get you ready for Halloween. The nostalgia of Disney Channel original movies comes to life as Marnie and her siblings must race to save Halloweentown, a town that celebrates Halloween year-round. This fun film is full of spells and pumpkins are sure to get you in the mood for fall while reminding you of your favorite childhood traditions of costumes and trick-or-treating.

  1. The Twilight Saga

Twilight is the perfect movie for a rainy day whether you’ve seen it a hundred times or don’t know what it’s about. From the beginning, the rainy ambiance of Forks, Washington put me in the mood for the fall weather, even if it’s summer, and, while the spooky soundtrack and supernatural content may frighten you a little at first, there is nothing to be worried about. This is my favorite movie for when I want to take a break from my work so this fall, revive your obsession with Twilight. Then continue on and finish the rest of the saga as the supernatural element only grows to make the Twilight movies ideal for fall.

  1. Scream

After watching this movie for the first time last year as my first horror film, I was momentarily frightened at the jump scares but enjoyed the movie. It gave me enough of a scare while still allowing me and my friends to keep up with the plot and stay entertained. If you want a scary Halloween movie, this is a good choice.

  1. Jennifer’s Body

I finally watched Jennifer’s Body for the first time this year with my customs group and while it doesn’t take place in the fall, the supernatural elements and the aura of mystery and darkness make me associate it with the fall season. Jennifer, a popular and seemingly normal high school girl, is suddenly not herself and as mysterious and violent instances occur around town, people wonder what’s going on. If you are looking for something slightly scary and silly, give this one a try.
