The Bloomington, Ind., Police Department has released information that it hopes will bring about new clues in the case of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer.
Police have released a timeline of the night Spierer disappeared, the last known image of Spierer, and a picture of a suspicious truck that was in the area around the time she was last seen, The Indianapolis Star reports.
Spierer was last seen at around 4:30 a.m. on June 3. Police say that, according to video footage, Spierer went to a sports bar, back to her apartment complex, out through an alley and back onto College Avenue, one of Bloomington’s main thoroughfares, on the night she went missing. The timeline becomes less concrete after 2:51 a.m., as they only have witness accounts of Spierer after that time.
The official timeline:
- 1:46 a.m.: Spierer enters Kilroy’s Sports Bar.
- 2:27 a.m.: Spierer exits Kilroy’s.
- 2:30 a.m.: Spierer enters her apartment.
- 2:42 a.m.: Spierer leaves her apartment.
- 2:48 a.m.: Spierer enters a north/south alley between 10th and College Apartments and 10th and College Village.
- 2:51 a.m.: Spierer exits the alley, heading toward an empty lot north of 10th and College Village Apartments.
- About 4:30 a.m.: Spierer is last seen at 11th and College Ave., according to her friend, Jay Rosenbaum.
Spierer went to Kilroy’s with Rosenbaum’s friend, Corey Rossman, USA Today reports. Leaving her cellphone and shoes at the bar, Spierer left Kilroy’s and went back to her apartment with Rossman.
At her apartment complex, Rossman says he was confronted by someone and punched in the face, causing him to lose memory of what took place during and after the incident.
Spierer and Rossman reportedly went back to his apartment, where Mike Beth, his roommate, but him to bed and saw Spierer leave. Spierer then went to Rosenbaum’s apartment. Although Rosenbaum says he tried to get Spierer to stay at his apartment, she left at about 4:15 a.m. According to Rosenbaum, he last saw Spierer rounding a corner toward her apartment around 4:30 a.m.
Police have also released a surveillance photo of Spierer at her apartment complex the night she disappeared. The photo shows Spierer smiling and wearing a white V-neck shirt and black leggings.
In addition to the photo of Spierer, the Police Department has given out a photo of a white Chevrolet pickup truck that was driving in the area where Spierer was last seen. According to security cameras, the truck is seen driving down the same block twice, at 4:14 a.m. and 4:24 a.m., and it appears to be carrying construction equipment.
While police are not sure if the truck is connected to Spierer’s disappearance, they want to see if the driver is connected to her disappearance or if the driver saw anything that could give them new information.
The truck ran a stop sign, making police unable to get a license plate number, Yahoo! News reports.
“Is there a possibility that this vehicle could be involved? Absolutely,” said Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters. “It circles the block during the time frame and (near) the location where Lauren was last seen, and for that reason, we think it’s significant.”
Charlene Spierer, Spierer’s mother, made an appeal on June 16 to Lauren’s friends that alluded to the notion that they are withholding valuable information from police.
“I am begging you,” Charlene Spierer said. “Put yourself in Lauren’s place. What would you want you friends to do for you? I can tell you 100 percent with question that if this was a friend of Lauren’s and if Lauren had information to help find her friend, she would have been here yesterday.”
“She’s very dear to us … we want to get her back just to embrace her and tell her we love her,” Robert Spierer, Spierer’s father, said, according to the New York Daily News.
