Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds — we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

John Bolton and John Kelly Have An Intense Screaming Match Over Immigration

National Security Advisor John Bolton and Chief of Staff John Kelly allegedly got into an intense screaming match on Thursday at the White House over immigration Policies, according to CNN.

The argument focused on the increase in border crossings, and the thousands of migrants from Central American countries heading to the United States. CNN reports that Bolton criticized the performance of the Department of Homeland Security and it’s secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. Some have criticized Nielsen for not doing more to secure the U.S. southern borders.

According to CNN, the two had been feuding for several days now over the issues, but on Thursday it broke out into a full-fledged brawl after Trump sided with Bolton.

The president went on a Twitter rant earlier that day, blasting Democrats for “leading” the caravan of migrants to the US borders and threatened to pull foreign aid from Mexico.

US Justice Department Investigates Child Sexual Abuse By Priests in Pennsylvania

Federal prosecutors opened an investigation of child sexual abuse by priests in Pennsylvania, and subpoenaed at least seven church dioceses for secret files and testimonies from high-ranking leaders.

A number of abuse survivors said that this is the first ever federal probe of such magnitude launched by the U.S. Department of Justice, CNN reports.

The dioceses of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, Erie, Greensburg, Allentown and Harrisburg all acknowledge receiving subpoenas last week. They also said they plan to cooperate with officials, according to Huffington Post

“The Diocese of Pittsburgh has received the subpoena from the US Department of Justice and will cooperate fully with any and all investigations of sexual abuse of minors by clergy in Pennsylvania,” spokesman Rev. Nicholas S. Vaskov told CNN.

The state grand jury released a report over the summer, which found 301 priests in Pennsylvania had molested more than 1,000 children over seven decades. The report also found that the church had covered up the abuse.

Former USA Gymnastics President Arrested For Tampering With Evidence Linked To Nassar

Former president of USA Gymnastics Steve Penny has been accused of covering up sexual abuse by former doctor Larry Nassar. Penny was arrested on Wednesday over claims that he tampered with evidence in Nassar’s investigation, according to NPR

The arrest comes just one day after former California congressman Mary Bono resigned from her position as CEO and interim president of USA Gymnastics. She was on the job for only four days.

The indictment alleged that Penny demanded the removal of documents related to Nassar from Karolyi Ranch, where the athletes trained in Texas, NPR reports. The documents were then delivered to Penny at the USA Gymnastics headquarters, and he either destroyed or hid them. According to NPR, the documents are still missing.

Penny could receive two to 10 years in prison with a fine up to $10,000.
