As much as you’d love to spend another summer chasing after toddlers (and we know how much you love that), it’s time to spice up your work experience. Interning isn’t just resume padding. It’spractically a must for undergraduates in this economy. Seasoned interns know you’re less likely to fetch Starbucks than be swamped with relevant errands and tasks—and learn a lot. Save the job for September, and thumb through these 10 internships you can still apply for right now.

1. LeadAmerica Paid Summer Internships


Requirements:
Undergraduate or graduates in all majors (including law, journalism, political science, business, etc.), recent graduates, or professionals can apply.
About: Does New York City for the summer sound nice? What about Chicago, Los Angeles for a bit, then maybe Boston? LeadAmerica is looking for interns to join their summer conference staff for high school and middle school students. Your housing and most meals are compensated, it’s great networking experience and did we mention you’d be traveling around the country?

2. Women for Women International – Communications and Outreach Intern

Requirements: Upper-level undergraduate or graduate students can apply.
About: Since 1993, Women for Women International has helped more than 315,000 women survivors of war in more than eight different countries. This Communications and Outreach Assistant intern would work on advocacy, research, and communications—and must have top-notch writing and analytical skills.

6. United Nations Children’s Fund – Celebrity Engagement Intern

About: If you believe in celebrities using their power for good, then we recommend this highly unique and completely awesome internship. You’d be working for the United Nations Children Fund on their celebrity management and engagement. It’s all about conducting research and creating celebrity outreach lists—not to mention learning about UNICEF’s public relations and their work around the globe.
