11 Women-Owned Brands You Never Knew You Needed in Your Life

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

Most women-owned brands are pretty great, especially if that woman is also at the helm of operations and design. We tend to know what we’re doing. To prove it, here’s a list of some of the most unique (and talked-about, duh) women-owned brands for you to check out this Women’s History Month.

Whimsy + Row

Meet the sustainable clothing brand that is somehow, without fail, always on trend. Whimsy + Row, founded by Rachel Temko in 2014, is based out of West L.A., and it encompasses the L.A. vibe supremely.

Their lineup of best sellers includes the Flora pant, an adorable, high waisted, flared-cutoff pant sold in twelve fabrics and colors. When a pair of pants is sold in that many colors, you know the cut is perfection. Plus, they sell everything in between from bodysuits to gorgeous flowy dresses and patterned skirts, and although the prices are a bit higher than what we see in the fast-fashion world, they do have great sales.

My tip from the trade: get on that email list, and start stalking those prices!

Parade

Sustainably-made, carbon-neutral seamless underwear beginning at $8? Inclusive sizing from XS to 3XL? Donating revenue to Planned Parenthoods across the U.S.? Truly, where has this underwear brand been all my life?! Parade, founded by Cami Tellez, makes underwear for all of us, and has the cutest website I’ve seen in a minute (and the fabrics are recycled!!)

Megababe

Founded by Katie Sturino, this is a brand full of innovative products made for all of us. From vegan and cruelty free deodorant to thigh-chafe prevention sticks to an underarm detoxifying mask, you’ll probably find a solution to problems you didn’t even know could be solved.

Sundays

The nail-care brand with the most aesthetic bottles I’ve ever seen. Like, I want to display them in my house aesthetic. Sundays was founded by Amy Lin, and it features a non-toxic, cruelty-free nail polish formula. Plus, their email newsletters (yes, I get them… and read them) are adorable, and always leave me and my inbox feeling tranquil and calm. Self-care Sunday, did you say?

Uqora

Founded by Jenna Ryan when she suffered eight UTI’s in one year (and if you’ve had one before, you know that they are SO painful), after realizing that there are so few products out there to prevent UTI’s. Jenna knew something had to change, and now offers three products: Target, for flushing the urinary tract, Control, for cleaning biofilm, and Promote, for balancing the vaginal microbiome. If you suffer from chronic UTI’s, you may just find your answer in Uqora.

The Honey Pot

This feminine hygiene brand was founded by Bea Dixon, with the aim of creating a plant-based and herb-powered line of menstrual products, which also happen to be biodegradable and cruelty-free. Plus, The Honey Pot has partnered with Happy Period to help provide menstrual hygiene products to women who are homeless or living in poverty. What is this brand not, other than the last thing on your to-purchase list (yeah, it’s probably the first)?

Olive & June

Here’s a nail polish brand that has, in my opinion, revolutionized the at-home mani with their patented product The Poppy, a wide and flat attachment to the nail-polish brush that *actually* makes painting your own nails possible (especially for unskilled manicurists like me). They also offer a large swath of vegan and cruelty free nail polishes that make me want to trade in my sneaks for sandals ASAP. And, it’s available at an affordable price, one of founder Sarah Gibson Tuttle’s core goals in creating the company in 2013.

Hero Cosmetics

Known for being the creator of the Mighty Patch, dubbed ‘your blemish hero,’ Ju Rhyu, founder of Hero Cosmetics, found an acne solution in hydrocolloid patches which don’t leave redness or irritation behind after they’ve done their job. And one box (available at Target) is only $13. Acne, be gone!

The Lip Bar

Shark Tank reject turned beauty brand that has everyone talking The Lip Bar, founded by Melissa Butler, makes vegan and cruelty-free beauty products with a focus on inclusivity. If you’re looking to try one of their incredibly reasonably priced lipsticks, do so ASAP, because they’re selling fast!

BYCHARI

A jewelry brand that says minimal is beautiful, and they’re damn right. BYCHARI was founded by Chari Cuthbert almost a decade ago, and since its inception has stuck to core values of sustainability and supporting local L.A. businesses. The pieces range dramatically in price, but some of my favorites are affordable in a college-student budget, including earrings and the gorgeous Soho necklace.

Happy Dance

Meet Happy Dance, where your ‘chill pill’ actually makes an impact. Kristen Bell recently launched a line of CBD-infused products, including body butter and bath bombs, as she has had such a positive experience with CBD. Plus, Happy Dance is on a mission to give back, donating a portion of all profits to A New Way of Life Reentry Project, a Black-owned, L.A.-based organization with a focus on helping women rebuild their lives after prison. Finding a little chill has never been so impactful.

And there you have it – happy shopping!
