Get the Gift You Actually Want—Every Time

I have a very important question for you: how many birthday gifts have you received that only see the light of day when the family member who gave you the gift comes to visit? Tons, right? Me too! Every year my family and I do the same birthday gift tango: First, they ask me what I want and I think to myself, gosh, I know exactly what I want but I feel weird asking for it. Then, despite the drawer full of thoughtful-but-so-not-me clothes and jewelry that I have accumulated over the years, I tell them that I’d love anything they get me. Why? I simply can’t get myself to ask for what I actually want. But thanks to a new site called 22Hints, an online, everyday registry, I don’t have to feel bad about asking for what I want anymore, and neither do you!

From birthday gifts to graduation gifts, and every big or small event in between, 22Hints is the ultimate solution to all of our gift-getting (and giving) stress. Here’s how it works: You, the “hinter,” get to make your very own hint list. Name your list whatever your heart desires—something that captures the occasion or passion for which the list is meant—and then you start hinting. Getting your very first apartment after graduation and need some new furniture? Or maybe a new pair of sneakers for that half-marathon coming up? Find the URL online, copy and paste it into your hint list, and bam—all it takes is a few clicks to nudge your well-meaning grandma in the right direction. It’s that simple: make your list, share it (via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter), and actually get what you want.

Here’s the best part: with 22Hints you’ll not only get the gift you want, you will help the people who love you really get you. “The people who love you really want to know what you love… they really, really want to know,” says Lucy Danziger, former Editor-in-Chief of Self Magazine and Creator and Founder of 22Hints. When Lucy gave her niece a bracelet for graduation that turned out to be the wrong size and color, she wished more than anything that she could have known the exact one her niece wanted from the start—she wanted to be the “super aunt that bought the perfect grad gift.”

22Hints is no doubt going to change the way we give and receive gifts. It is the solution to all of our gift giving and receiving troubles and in my case, will be the end of my thoughtful-but-so-not-me drawer. Don’t miss out on the chance to be one of the first to make a hint list and finally get that gift you really want!
