McDonald’s New McCafé Donut Sticks Will Literally Sweeten Up Your Day

Let’s be honest — breakfast at McDonald’s is the best. From the Egg McMuffin to the fluffy hotcakes, you really can’t go wrong. And now, McDonald’s has introduced a brand new sweet treat during breakfast hours that you can gift to your sweet. (Or to yourself, because that’s cool, too.)

According to McDonald’s, their new Donut Sticks are “sweet golden-brown dough, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and made fresh every morning” and are available at participating restaurants nationwide.

“We are proud of our breakfast offerings, and excited to share new Donut Sticks with our customers. Donut Sticks are the perfect complement to our existing breakfast lineup, and pair deliciously with our fresh brewed premium roast McCafé coffee,” Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s Vice President of Menu Innovation, said.

McDonald’s reportedly tested their newest breakfast item at several Illinois locations in early 2018, and then again in October 2018, to perfect the recipe, CNN Business reports.

“…It was critical that we perfected them before we brought them to our customers nationwide. We looked at several donut shapes, tested a variety of doughs and even worked to get the amount of cinnamon sugar just right for the recipe,” VanGosen said. “We are thrilled to be making breakfast at McDonald’s even more delicious by introducing Donut Sticks.”

The popular fast food chain is promoting Donut Sticks as “a little sweet to go with your coffee,” as coffee and donuts make a “perfect pair.”

Customers will be able to order the new treat by the half-dozen or by the dozen, and can also pair a half-dozen order with a small McCafé brewed coffee for a special price at participating locations.

While McDonald’s introduced all-day breakfast, this new breakfast item is being offered exclusively at breakfast, and will be made fresh throughout the morning and served warm to customers.

Donut Sticks are available starting February 20th, but the new breakfast treat is a limited-time item, so get them while you can. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
