The Best Girl Group Halloween Costumes for 2012

Halloween is fast approaching, which means you’ll want to figure out your outfit plans early to avoid any costume catastrophes. If you and your friends are in need of a little inspiration, think about dressing up as a group: whether you play off pop culture or go as various versions of your friends’ favorite celebrity, you’ll be sure to make a statement – not to mention take some great photos – at all your October 31st festivities.

The Fab Five Olympic Gymnastics Team
With the Olympics just a few months behind us, a Fab Five-inspired group theme is a fun and relevant way to bring back your gold-medal enthusiasm for the US sports teams. What’s more, you’ll have the perfect excuse to be “not impressed” with costumes that aren’t quite as clever as yours.

The Spice Girls
Speaking of the Olympics, the Spice Girls are the perfect throwback-but-still-current inspiration for your Halloween celebrations. You may choose to reenact their Closing Ceremonies performance (standing on cars not included), but really, who could resist a chance to bring back the nineties and dress like their favorite member of the group? Requisite high-fives go to anyone who adopts Scary Spice’s hairstyle.

Lady Gaga
Although Gaga’s getups are on the whole pretty difficult to imitate, if you’re feeling adventurous, there are a number of ways for you and your friends to pay homage to Mother Monster without having to actually raid her closet. Her outfits are wacky enough to qualify as perfect Halloween material, and you’ll have a great excuse to make some serious beauty statements (a pearl-adorned face, anyone?). Special bonus points go to anyone daring enough to go as Gaga’s alter ego Joe Calderone.

The Cast of HBO’s “Girls”
If you need an excuse to let your inner hipster out for a night, then dressing us as the cast of HBO’s hit show “Girls” is the perfect solution. Simply adopt a Brooklyn-chic state of mind: keep your makeup minimal and your plaid abundant, and you’re good to go; and if you have an ironic tattoo, you’re golden.
