6 Celebrity Halloween Costumes for 2013

The secret’s out: you’re obsessed with all things pop culture. You love to read tabloid magazines at the nail salon and have a complete fangirl moment whenever you see a Blake Lively lookalike. As you very well know, this year was filled with juicy celebrity gossip. Honor your inner celebrity guru by dressing up as one of your favorite A-listers for Halloween! Not sure who you should emulate this year? Check out our six favorite costume options.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

In the rare event we haven’t been clear enough, let’s get one thing straight: we wish we were Jennifer Lawrence. From her obsession with food to her Katniss Everdeen alter ego, we can’t help but think that the starlet radiates perfection. Don’t deny it; you’re nodding your head in agreement. Well, for one night, we can pretend to be her without being judged by our roommates!

So what’s the best Jennifer Lawrence moment to copy? Her infamous fall at the Oscars, of course! Since snagging that pale pink Dior gown is like Mission: Impossible, see if any of your friends or family members have an evening gown or old prom dress you can borrow. If not, we’re sure you can pick up an inexpensive dress at your local thrift shop. Throw on your favorite pair of heels, purchase a faux award statuette at your nearest party store, add dainty drop earrings to your ensemble and tie your hair into a very tight bun—this will require loads of bobby pins and hairspray. If your frenemy judges you for wiping out in your heels, just tell her you were getting in character.

2. Pregnant Kim Kardashian

Dressing up as normal Kim Kardashian is a little overplayed; however, dressing up as pregnant Kim Kardashian this year is pure genius. Though it’s highly unlikely any of us can get our hands on the floral Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress she wore to the 2013 Met Gala, sporting a bodycon dress with a basketball or balloon underneath is an attainable and affordable alternative. Since pregnant Kim Kardashian didn’t ditch the heels—there are some gruesome Instagram pictures to prove it—neither should you. Rock your highest heels, and hopefully your feet won’t be as swollen as Kim’s. As for your Kardashian-inspired hair and makeup routine, create sexy waves with a curling iron and pile on the mascara. Go the extra mile by having your best guy friend dress up as Kanye West—yes, he can wear a pair of shutter shades if he really wants to.

3. North West

Step aside, Blue Ivy—there’s a new A-lister baby in town. Beside the Royal Baby, Kim and Kanye’s daughter was the most anticipated arrival of the year, so dressing up as this tiny tot is a dream come true for any pop culture fanatic.

Alas, we only have a single picture of the superstar-to-be. So how much costume inspiration can we gather from a single photograph? Virtually none. Instead, use North West’s controversial name to your advantage by dressing up as a compass that’s pointing northwest. Create a white arrow and directional letters out of an old tee and pin them onto a black shirt, then add a pair of leggings and ballerina flats. Baby-proof your ensemble by adding a bib, pacifier and bottle.

4. Miley Cyrus

From bumpin’, grindin’ and twerkin’ on Robin Thicke during the VMAs performance seen around the world to her salacious “Wrecking Ball” music video, Miley Cyrus is definitely one of the year’s most scandalous celebrities. And with all her interesting ensembles, dressing up as this superstar for Halloween is a viable option.

Since most of us probably don’t have nude latex bras and underwear—if you do, we won’t ask—take a style note from Cyrus’s “We Can’t Stop” music video and couple a white crop top with a pair of matching short shorts or leggings. Add some super high platforms and pile on the gold jewelry—for this occasion, we’re going to say that grillz are optional. Since very few people also have the singer’s faux hawk, create two buns on the top of your head a la Miley at the VMAs and add a bright red lip. For the finishing touch, add a foam finger to your ensemble and start practicing your twerking!

 5. Zooey Deschanel

Between gracing Marie Claire’s highly-anticipated September issue to having a whole sketch about her quirky personality on Saturday Night Live, it’s obvious that Zooey Deschanel has transformed from the girl next door to a bona fide A-lister. Luckily, dressing up as the New Girl star is as easy as wearing clothes from your own closet. Simply pair a patterned top with a bright miniskirt and accessorize with some opaque tights and a feminine pair of ballet flats. As for the your beauty routine, dry your mane with a round brush for a sleek hairdo and create a winged eye with some liquid liner. If you’re really willing to go the extra mile, create some Zooey-approved nail art.

6. Justin Bieber

From delaying shows, starting fights with the paparazzi and leaving his poor pet monkey in Germany, it’s very clear that this megawatt star has had a wild year. Just because we’re not collegents doesn’t mean we can’t poke fun at Justin Bieber’s crazy antics. They key to rocking a Bieber-approved ensemble is borrowing clothes from your older brother, best guy friend or boyfriend. Snag your own pair of boxers (for obvious reasons) from your local discount store and style with a black tee, hoodie and pair of baggy jeans. As for the accessories, add a pair of aviators, layer gold chains, throw on a pair of baller-worthy sneakers and top it all off with a flat-brimmed hat. Since you’re dressing up as a guy, stick to minimal makeup and tie your hair into a low ponytail or bun. Finish this look off with a pop star headset and a stuffed animal monkey.
