If you’re one of the many, many collegiettes who view Halloween as an excuse to dress in ridiculous clothing and get a good laugh out of your friends, you’ve come to the right place! If you can be anything for one day, why not be something hilariously original? Here are 16 ideas to get you started in crafting an entertaining costume!

1. Be Trashy

Make a dress out of a trash bag—all you need is scissors—and when people ask what you are for Halloween just answer, “I’m trashy.”

2. Be Easy

Yet another low-maintenance costume, simply print out a picture of a Staples Easy Button and tape it to your chest.

3. Gold Digger

Stack on all the gold jewelry you own (necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings) and don an all-gold metallic outfit. Complete your look by carrying a lightweight shovel with you for the night or wearing a gold hard hat.

4. Freudian Slip

Perfect for psych majors or anyone who just loves a good pun. All you need for this one is a sexy nightgown or slip you don’t mind ruining and a permanent marker. Write Freudian words like “Oedipal,” “subconscious” and “projection” all over the slip, and you’re done!

5. Loofah

Keep your look squeaky clean this year by dressing up as a bath loofah. All you need is some tulle, a dress to pin it to, and a piece of rope to hang in a loop from the side.

6. Cereal Killer

All this clever costume requires is some mini cereal boxes and fake blood. Perfect for those of you who love puns!

7. Grapes

All you need is a couple dozen red, purple, or green balloons, some leaves to wear on your head and a good five-foot radius on the dance floor.

8. Sexy Waldo

Pretty self-explanatory. If you want to have a costume that’s on the alluring side without being a stereotypical “sexy nurse” or “sexy police officer,” this is a fun way to go. Take something random and make it sexy! All you need to be Waldo is a red-and-white striped shirt and some fake glasses. Get a white-and-red hat with a pom-pom on top, and you’re set! Wear jeans, and don’t forget to use cute taglines like, “Aw… you found me!”

9. Someecards

Any lovably sarcastic lass can make this costume work by either paying homage to her favorite Someecard or creating one of her own. Your attire should correspond to the card’s message. Then, simply carry around your oversized sign with you all night long. It’s about as Insta-ready as a costume can get, if you ask us.

10. Crazy Cat Lady

Who ever said that crazy cat lovers can’t be cute? Collect a couple of cat stuffed animals to pin to the shoulder and sleeves of your bathrobe. Roll your hair in some curlers and don some wacky eye shadow, and you’ll be good to go!

11. Crayon

Get a solid-colored tank dress and make yourself a matching pointy cap. Don’t forget your “Crayola” label!

12. 50 Shades of Grey

This one couldn’t be easier: just layer on as many different grey clothes and accessories as you can find, or you can layer grey paint chips all over your outfit.

13. Tourist

A classic. Wear the most clichéd clothes and accessories that you can find, including floral shirts and high-waisted shorts (and not the cute kind). Be sure to carry around a map with you all night and take lots of pictures!

14. Broses

A twist on the Moses costume, you can carry around a staff made out of beer cans, or perhaps a tablet with your own 10 Commandments of Bro. Don’t forget your catch phrase: “Let my people BRO!”

15. Plastic Army Toy

Really all you need for this costume is a LOT of green paint. Still, it’s more of a costume for the ambitious collegiette; you have to commit. If you can obtain a helmet and a Nerf gun, you can also paint them green to complete your ensemble. When you go out on Halloween, be sure to freeze in a battle stance at random moments. This would also be fun to do in a group!
