13 Signs You Work in Retail

Rude customers, long shifts and repetitive playlists are just some of the struggles clothing-store employees have to deal with on the daily. Here are 13 telltale signs you work in retail!

1. The words “Black Friday” bring you a feeling of dread.

2. Your entire wardrobe consists of clothing you bought at work.

3. The phrases, “Hi, welcome to (store name here),” “How can I help you?” and “Have a great day!” are forever imprinted into your brain.

4. You’re used to never having a set schedule or being able to make plans.

5. You know that employee discounts are a double-edged sword.

6. You’re on a first-name basis with the people who work in the food court.

7. Shoppers who come into the store right before closing are the bane of your existence.

8. Your folding skills are practically resume-worthy.

9. The holidays mean only two things: copious amounts of coffee and crying.

10. Working a double shift, coming in to work at 6 a.m. or doing rollout at midnight are all totally normal occurrences.

11. You’ve perfected the art of being outwardly bubbly when you actually want to murder someone.

12. Hearing the same playlist over and over again has made you question your sanity.

13. Your mindset 99.9 percent of the time you’re working is a little like this:
