Job Description

This position can be based in our Boston office or remotely from NYC or LA.

Her Campus is seeking a full-time Lifestyle Editor who will drive engagement and growth in timely news coverage, special editorial features, and oversee all lifestyle content (news, entertainment, food, travel, dorm) for The Lifestyle Editor will be responsible for developing the section’s e-commerce content, thinking strategically with SEO-driven articles, all while creating original franchises and conducting interviews for long-form features. The Lifestyle Editor will oversee a team of remote news, entertainment, and lifestyle writers and will work directly with the entire editorial team. The Lifestyle Editor will report to the Senior Editor.

The ideal candidate has editorial experience and their finger on the pulse of what’s trending for college women — what they want to read more of, what they’re shopping for, the celebrities they’re obsessed with, the shows they’re binge-watching, and the political issues that they want to discuss. The ideal candidate will also understand the importance of inclusivity, be passionate about providing innovative and relatable content in a way that is feminist, funny, and genuine, and be deeply familiar with the Her Campus voice. You should be the type of person that’s sending HC articles to your friends, but also have feedback for how we can improve.


  • Assign and edit daily lifestyle news and stories

  • Manage a team of college student writers

  • Develop and execute an editorial content plan based on trends and reports

  • Serve as an editorial lead on lifestyle coverage — including celebrity-related programs and partnerships and attending and covering major events

  • Liaise with publicists on product launches and exclusive opportunities

  • Increase e-commerce content

  • Work with Assistant Social Editor, Video to conceptualize unique and engaging video content across platforms


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1-3 years of full-time digital editorial experience

  • Involvement in Her Campus during college preferred

  • Superb writing and editing skills

  • Rigorous attention to detail

  • Ability to confidently attend and cover major events and secure and conduct high-profile interviews

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to cover award shows or breaking news outside of normal working hours, when necessary

  • Capable of functioning autonomously and complete projects and tasks without close management and supervision

  • Fluency with typical office technology and software; knowledge of AP Style; knowledge of Google Analytics

  • Self-starter with go-getter attitude, positive and upbeat nature, and excellent work ethic who doesn’t mind getting his/her hands dirty and is excited about working in a start-up environment
