Job Description

Based in-office in Boston, or working remotely from NYC or LA.

Her Campus is seeking a full-time Content Strategist who will develop and execute strategies to drive content to our audience on various platforms by analyzing traffic, trends, and engagement alongside our editorial team. In this role, the Content Strategist will assist in shaping the unified Her Campus voice across multiple platforms and maximizing site and social growth and development. The Content Strategist will work closely with the editorial team to optimize features, videos, and branded content to tell stories in an innovative, engaging way.

The ideal candidate has editorial and social media experience but also loves data and numbers and can approach their work with a strategic, analytical, data-driven mindset while still being creative.  The ideal candidate has their finger on the pulse of what's trending for college women - what they want to watch and read more of, what they want to see when they scroll through Instagram, what memes they want to tag their friends in on Facebook, and is excited about the task of informing and confirming these insights via data and analytics. The ideal candidate will also understand the importance of inclusivity, be passionate about providing innovative and relatable content in a way that is feminist, funny, and genuine, and be deeply familiar with the Her Campus voice. You should be the type of person who’s always tagging friends on HC social, but who also has feedback for how we can improve.

We're looking for a Content Strategist who will approach every task with fire and enthusiasm!

Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Act as the point person for content development and traffic growth, hitting key performance metrics

  • Provide frequent reporting on site traffic, engagement, and social media campaigns, giving analytically-backed recommendations for new opportunities

  • Update the promotional strategy by creating best practices for content across various platforms, including social media and SEO

  • Craft engaging headlines across verticals and copy for on-site content and social media platforms

  • Work with editors to perform A/B headline testing across social platforms

  • Collaborate with edit, sales, and design teams to assist with the execution of content in a unified Her Campus voice, including but not limited to branded content, ad copy, and promotion of tentpole events

  • Execute content plans; create content across verticals

  • Act as point for social and website metrics, including but not limited to weekly traffic reports, updating social benchmarks, and working with section editors to craft reports and updates for Senior Editorial Team regarding growth goals and accomplishments

  • Develop recommendations and insights to inform content and drive traffic across our campus chapter network


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of social media or analytics experience, preferably in women's digital media
  • Experience crafting social media plans for a publisher, brand, or for your own platforms
  • Passionate about storytelling through multiple social media platforms
  • Superb writing and editing skills with rigorous attention to detail
  • Analytical and strategic mindset; genuine interest and excitement around utilizing and analyzing numbers and data in your work
  • Quick and efficient worker with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once
  • Ability to function autonomously and complete projects and tasks without close management and supervision
  • Self-starter with go-getter attitude, positive and upbeat nature, and excellent work ethic who doesn’t mind getting his/her hands dirty and is excited about working in a start-up environment
