About the Candidate

BIGfish is seeking a motivated, energetic and highly organized individual looking to grow and learn in a small team environment to act as a part-time public relations intern. Marketing and communications majors in their junior and senior years of college with past internship experience are preferred. Excellent communication skills and a strong interest in public relations, social media and technology are essential to succeed in this position.

About the Job

BIGfish interns support the account team members with their day-to-day responsibilities managing clients and executing campaigns. Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Public Relations

  • Building and maintaining media lists
  • Drafting and sending pitches and media materials
  • Managing media relations and conducting outreach on behalf of clients
  • Writing media backgrounder documents for clients prior to briefings
  • Reviewing incoming HAROs and Google Alerts
  • Tracking all press coverage and clipping press hits

Social Media

  • Drafting and posting Tweets, Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin posts on behalf of BIGfish and its clients
  • Writing and editing blog posts and drafting copy for website articles
  • Tracking and analyzing BIGfish and clients’ social growth and engagement
  • Monitoring and implementing social media trends and best practices

Semester Project

  • Creating and executing a communications plan for BIGfish
  • Maintaining events/awards/speaking engagement calendars
  • Identifying key industry trends and staying up-to date on current events
  • Securing print and online coverage for BIGfish through targeted media outreach

Administrative Duties

  • Attending meetings and taking notes
  • Answering incoming calls
  • Additional tasks as needed
