Netflix Is Increasing the Prices of Its Most Popular Streaming Plans

Netflix is so intertwined into society nowadays that it’s hard to imagine our everyday lives without it. Whether it’s bingeing on a new original show or playing classic Friends episodes while you’re multitasking, the streaming service is a go-to comfort item. It’s so necessary that I’m not even that mad about Netflix announcing a price increase on two of its streaming plan. There is a literal price to happiness, I suppose.

HelloGiggles reports that the most popular Netflix plan, including two users to stream HD content at the same time, will immediately increase to a monthly price of $10.99 for new users. The Premium subscription, a plan you probably haven’t heard of much, will go from $11.99 to $13.99 per month. The high-end plan allows four screens to stream simultaneously in Ultra HD 4K format. Although the cost of the non-HD single streaming plan will stay at $7.99, price changes will occur for existing members beginning on October 19.

“From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster,” the company said in a statement.

I’d love to say that the best things in life are free, but Netflix may be an exception. After all, I’d gladly hand over my money for another season of The Crown or the availability of even more of my favorite old sitcoms.
