Just two days after Jake Paul, Logan Paul’s brother, took to YouTube to address the controversy surrounding his brother, Logan has returned to vlogging himself.
Logan took a break from YouTube following the outrage from his controversial video filmed in the Japanese forest Aokigahara, more commonly known as the “Suicide Forest,” which showed a person who allegedly hanged himself.
In the new video, titled “Suicide: Be Here Tomorrow,” Logan pledged to donate $1 million to suicide prevention causes.
“I’m pledging to donate $1 million to various suicide prevention organizations with the first $250,000 going immediately to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline so they can increase their capacity to help those in need,” Logan said.
He also addressed the situation and discussed how he’s moving forward.
“I know I’ve made mistakes. I know I’ve let people down. But what happens when you’re given an opportunity to help make a difference in the world?” Logan said. “It’s time to learn from the past as I get better and grow as a human being. I’m here to have a hard conversation as those who are suffering can have easier ones. ”
In the video, Logan interviews Kevin Hines, an advocate and suicide attempt survivor; Bob Forrest, founder of the addiction treatment center Alo House Recovery Centers; and John Draper, the director of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Logan said that both he and society need to learn to be more compassionate.
“It’s time to start a new chapter in my life as I continue to educate myself and others on suicide,” he said. “I’m humbled and thankful to say, this is just the beginning.”
In less than 24 hours, the video has more than 10 million views.
Twitter had mixed reactions to the apology. Some praised Logan and the video:
Proud of you for this. @LoganPaul https://t.co/tl4HGfkxqZ

A man tries to make the first steps to do something good despite his wrongdoings yet the internet stjll crucifies him for trying to do something good after his big mistake. Give the man a chance. Logan Paul can do Great things if he wants to with his following.

I don’t care what everyone says
But I’m glad Logan Paul uploaded that video.
Yes he’s a dick
And he’s probably doing it for his name back
But as long as somebody is shedding light on the issue of suicide and mental health.— ♠??T@bi??♠ (@ShadowCCB2) January 25, 2018
Others brushed the whole thing off as a PR stunt.
The PR team who put together this Logan Paul redemption tour video is pretty slick.

Logan Paul does not care about suicide or suicide prevention. Logan Paul cares about Logan Paul and his latest video is just PR to help himself.

Jimmy Wong, actor and musician, was one person in particular that was not pleased with Logan.
After you posted a vlog to 6 million views using a suicide victim’s body and image as clickbait, we started diving into your past videos/tweets to see the number of ways you have continually treated and used other people as props and accessories for your success/attention.

So when I get alerted that you’ve posted a new video after taking a long break to “reflect”, I’m hoping you address the fact that you, in your infinite privilege and power, have little understanding of the consequences of your actions, treat others like props, and need to change.

TLDR – Logan Paul finally gave the world a unifying reason so we could all rally against him. His vlog also showed us a very messed up & privileged kid with far too much influence and little wisdom to go with it. Thus, his suicide awareness video is a BANDAID on a BROKEN BONE.

“We need to be a society that comes together for every person in the community” – words from your video. Logan, as a creator, you have a responsibility to your community. They went after people who disagreed with you with racism, threats, and harassment. They follow YOU.

I pray and hope you realize that this video is only the first step in a very long journey in responsibility and maturity, and that this journey is one that you are very unfamiliar with. We’re all watching and waiting to see what you do next. Please give us reason to believe. <3

It’ll be interesting to see what Logan does in the future, and whether or not he’s learned anything from this entire situation.
