If there were any doubts about whether Riverdale‘s Bughead — a.k.a. Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse — are an IRL couple, they can officially be laid to rest. Just a few weeks after making their first red carpet appearance as a couple at the Met Gala, the notoriously private couple has taken another major step in their relationship: making it ‘gram official.
Reinhart took to Instagram Wednesday evening to share a #TBT behind-the-scenes mirror selfie of she and Sprouse in their Met Gala attire, either at or just before the big event. While we of course loved the super gorgeous photos of them on the red carpet, the goofy mirror shot just feels like it captures their adorable off-screen relationship a little more accurately.
While Cole has posted plenty of beautiful, artistic shots of Lili, this is the first Insta they’ve ever posted together. They’ve both been pretty tight-lipped when it comes to their personal lives and their relationship in the past, making Lili’s recent gram especially major.
“It’s horrifying how invested some people are in my love life,” Lili said in a Tumblr post last year. “Emphasis on ‘my.’ It is mine. It is private. If a stranger’s love life is causing you anger, frustration or anxiety…please reevaluate your priorities.”
For his part, Cole has pretty much felt the exact same way. “Whether you dismiss those rumors or whether you encourage those rumors, it’s giving people who are in my opinion are a bit entitled to your personal life more power, and you have to have spaces for reverence in the industry,” he told People in an interview.
I mean, can you blame them? More power to them for wanting to keep their relationship, well, theirs — though we certainly aren’t against them keeping the selfies coming.
