Karlie Kloss Was Called Too Fat & Too Thin by an Agent on the Same Day, Which Is Bogus AF

If there’s one thing that’s certain in the world, it’s that you can’t please everyone—especially when their standards are extremely warped and unrealistic. It’s no secret that the fashion world has pretty strict expectations when it comes to body image, and often they’re extremely uncalled for. Just take Karlie Kloss—a highly successful model and self-proclaimed nerd who was told that she was too fat and too thin by a casting agent on the same day. Say what?!

During the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on Monday, the model sat on a panel with Hearst chief content officer Joanna Coles to discuss Kode with Klossy, a coding camp she started geared toward girls interested in computer science. However, the conversation also uncovered the unfortunate reality of what models encounter in the fashion industry. “I was called both too fat and too thin by a casting agent on the same day,” she said.

Luckily, instead of allowing the negativity of the fashion world to tear her down, Kloss keeps focused on the important things. “I don’t want to please anyone but myself,” she said. According to Page Six, Karlie was met with a standing ovation when she talked about how she aims to focus on her health and strength rather than her weight. Say it louder for the people in the back!

Although Kloss appreciates her fashion career, she claims that her passions also lie in the sciences. “At my core, I am totally a nerd. I love understanding how things work.” While it seems that the fashion world has not always been kind to Karlie, I admire her strength to rise above the negativity, as well as her dedication to inspire and educate young women through her love of computer science. Take that, haters.
