Ellen DeGeneres Is the Reason Channing Tatum’s Dad Knows He Was a Stripper

If you’re even remotely familiar with Channing Tatum, you know that he worked as a stripper before hitting it big in 2006’s Step Up. Channing has always been forthcoming about his past and has worked on several projects related to his previous career, including the Magic Mike films and the Vegas Magic Mike Live show, which opened earlier this year.

However, while filling in for Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and interviewing Ellen DeGeneres, Channing revealed that his father only learned of his stripper past after Tatum gave Ellen a lap dance on her show in 2010.

Channing looked back on the experience saying, “That was my very first time on your show, and I got to let you know that that was the very first time my dad actually found out that I was a stripper for a short time.” Yikes! Finding out a secret about your child on national television?!

Ellen, of course, asked a follow-up question: How did Channing’s dad take the news? “Not well…Really, really not well,” Tatum responded.

Hopefully Channing’s father has recovered from this surprise.
