Get your wands out, muggles. Harry Potter’s crossing the pond.
If you live in New York City, I’m already jealous. Starting this coming fall, the New York Historical Society is taking a page out of London’s book (seven books, to be specific) and opening “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” on October 5, 2018.
Since not all of us can Apparate yet, this is great news.
Through January 2019, Americans can enjoy the sorcery of J.K. Rowling’s world after the sister exhibit at the British Library closes in February of this year. Among the wonder: early drafts of Rowling’s notes that sparked the franchise, history of true folklore behind the inspiration for the books, and a brand new companion book similar to that of London’s exhibit: Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic. We’ll even be able to “study” popular Hogwarts subjects like Divination and Potions.
The opening is also celebratory of the — wait for it — 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Deep breaths, people.

Admission can be reserved for New York Historical Society members starting on February 14 and for the rest of the public in April. Expect ticket prices ranging from $6-21 for non-members.
