As JoJo eliminated man after man from The Bachelorette, we were really starting to get concerned about her choice to keep Chase around—especially when it started to feel like he should get the award for the most boring Bachelorette guy to ~ever~ exist. During his dinner date with JoJo in last night’s episode, he talked about “getting to those real emotions that are there.” But Chase, do you actually *have* emotions?
Leave it to Chase to surprise us all and suddenly become the star of the episode, with some very emotional moments that no one was expecting. Here are the signs that you were thrilled by the spectacle of it all.
1. You were finally rooting for him
When Chase told JoJo how much he loves her, and how hard it was for him to be vulnerable and say those words, you finally felt like he meant it. Rather than wishing he would go home, you were actualy hoping JoJo would say it back.
2. You were frustrated with JoJo
After Chase’s heartfelt “I love you”, you could not believe that JoJo just got up and left the room. No, JoJo—it’s too late for this. We wouldn’t have cared last week, but you can’t say goodbye to Chase now! What are you thinking?!
3. You felt as let down as Chase
As JoJo explained her feelings (or, er, lack thereof), you felt *so* in tune with Chase’s emotions. You could not believe JoJo was saying these words, and the sadness and anger Chase displayed perfectly matched the way you felt.
4. You wanted to be there to back Chase up
Every word Chase said to JoJo seemed like a release of his feelings from the entire season; he had just never been able to get them out before. You wished you could be there, standing behind Chase, shouting things like “Yeah!” or “You tell her!” You were LIVING for this confrontation.
5. His apology made you feel so many things
You ended the episode feeing very confused about why you were suddenly upset Chase went home, even though you’ve spent the entire season wanting it to happen. When he apologized to JoJo, you were proud of him for talking about his feelings again and you just wanted those moments to keep coming. You were kind of hoping JoJo would take him back and even now you don’t understand why you wanted Chase to stay.
