From YouTube Sensation to College Acceptance?

Who says spending all your time on YouTube can’t get you into college?

High school senior Grace Oberhofer became an Internet sensation last April, when she wrote and performed a song asking the Harvard University admissions committee to take her off the waitlist and accept her into the class of 2015. For her humorous performance, Grace donned Harry Potter glasses and a “Harvard” hat. She played the piano and sang lyrics like, “On John Harvard’s statue I’d never pee/Let me into your community.” See for yourself…

The video went viral, getting more than 87,000 hits on YouTube. However, Grace found out on her high school graduation night that she had been rejected from Harvard. She later commented  to the Harvard Crimson that she had no hard feelings about the college’s decision and enjoyed the public response to her video. “I think I entertained a lot of people,” she said. “What’s life if you can’t have a good laugh?”

Grace now a freshman at nearby Tufts University, USA Today reports. What did Grace do once she decided to go Tufts? Put together a new musical number, of course! The “Dearest Tufts” video features Grace sporting school spirit gear and embracing a stuffed toy version of the school mascot, Jumbo the Elephant. Check it out below!
