Two Teenage Girls Were Murdered on a Hike, But One May Have Been Able to Record the Killer

Two girls were murdered last week in Indiana after being dropped off to go hiking, ABC News reports. The families of Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, reported them missing when they failed to return from the hike, and their bodies were discovered a day later, on Valentine’s Day. But a photo and audio recording one of the girls’ phones may be able to lead police to the killer.

Yesterday, investigators released an audio clip that was recovered from German’s phone, on which a seemingly male voice can be heard saying “down the hill.” The file is from a longer video clip that one of the victims was courageous enough to take at some point during the event of the girls’ capture and killing.

A photo of a man from the same phone has also been shared with the public, and the man is the principal suspect in the police investigation. The investigators are hoping that the audio and photo will trigger someone’s memory or encourage anyone with information to come forward. FBI agents have also been taking part in the investigation.

While very little information about the crime or the investigation has been released at this time, individuals with any information are encouraged to call the Delphi, Ind. murder tip line at (844) 459-5786 or by emailing abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com.

Hopefully the truth will come out, and the girls’ families will have some semblance of closure. The fact that we have to worry about things like this is so frightening in and of itself.
