ScholarshipPoints: An Alternative to Scholarship Applications

Your taxes are filed and your FAFSA is submitted (well, hopefully) – but now, it’s time to think about scholarships for the upcoming year. If you’re really on top of things, you have probably already filled out applications, polished those pesky essays, etc. For the rest of us…I mean, the rest of you…there’s an easier, and much faster, way to score some free money.

ScholarshipPoints, an Edvisors company, is one resource that we can use to boost our chances of getting scholarships – and, bonus, it is super easy to participate and totally free to join.

How it works:

Join ScholarshipPoints – To be eligible to win scholarships from ScholarshipPoints.com, you must first become a member.

Earn Points
– When you login to your account you will see scholarship point earning opportunities: taking surveys, viewing student travel offers, reading blogs, and doing other activities online. When you complete each activity you will either have scholarship points automatically credited to your account, or receive a bonus code to bring back to the site to redeem for points.  You’ll also find secret bonus codes in emails, on their Facebook page and in their Twitter feed.

Enter Scholarship Drawings – Once you earn points you can enter them into the monthly $1,000 Free College Scholarship Drawing or the quarterly $10,000 scholarship drawing. To enter points, click on “Enter Scholarships,” choose the scholarship you want to enter, and put in the number of points you want to enter.

Win Scholarships! – Scholarship winners are announced on the first business day of every month. The winners of the $10,000 scholarship drawings are announced on the 15th of March, June, September and December. All winners are posted on the ScholarshipPoints winners’ page and have three days to claim their scholarship before it is awarded to the runner-up.

In addition to awarding scholarships, ScholarshipPoints has great resources listed on their website to connect students with third party scholarship offers, federal and private student loan options, student entertainment and travel offers, and student finance products.

ScholarshipPoints awarded over $120,000 to 80+ students last year, and is setting their sights even higher this year, which is great news for those of us with continually increasing tuition rates.
As collegiettes™ in today’s competitive and expensive higher education system, any leg up (that doesn’t require monthly payments for years to come) we can get is terrific – after all, your education is crucial, but your bank account is important too!
