Hitting the Snooze Button a Few Times May Mean You’re More Intelligent & Creative

According to a British study titled “Why Night Owls are More Intelligent”, people who go to sleep later may be smarter than those who go to bed and wake up early.

Researchers Satoshi Kanazawa and Kaja Perina found connections between ‘nocturnal’ sleep habits and intelligence, The Daily Mail reported.

The study was based on the idea that people who are intelligent are more likely to adopt evolutionary values, such as staying up late. Because our ancestors often went to bed and woke up early, being able to mix up your sleep routine shows you can adapt better to how life is now—we’re no longer constrained by when the sun rises and sets.

Being able to ignore the snooze alarm and follow what your body needs instead makes you more creative and independent, Cosmopolitan reports. You’re doing your own thing, and you can achieve your dreams without anyone’s help!

Other reports, such as one undertaken by the University of Southampton, showed that people who went to bed after 11 p.m. and got up after 8 a.m. “earned more money and enjoyed a happier lifestyle,” according to Cosmo.

So for all you night owls out there, you can rest assured that your “lazy” sleep routine is simply your own way of improving your creative, brilliant mind. Snooze button, continue!
