Tune in for the First Ever “Indoguration,” the Celebration You Didn’t Know You Needed

The newest First Family isn't moving into the White House alone come January 20. President-elect Biden’s rescue pup, Major, will be joining this administration as First Dog next week – along with Champ, the Bidens' second dog – and restoring order for the tradition of a presidential pet (Donald Trump was the first in a century to not have a dog).

German Shepherd Major was adopted from the Delaware Humane Association (DHA) in 2018. This Sunday, Jan. 17, at 3pm EST, Major's former caretakers will host a virtual “Indoguration.” Hosted by Jill Martin of NBC's Today, with special appearances by teen philanthropist and “animal advocate” Sir Darius Brown and "notable rescue dogs and their parents," the Zoom event aims to raise funds and awareness for rescue pups.

The DHA is calling all families and their dogs to come join the party to celebrate Major being the first rescue pup to become First Dog. The price of admission is a simple donation of $10 or more to help contribute towards rescuing more pups like Major, and as a part of the event, you can nominate your own dog to be a part of the Secretary of Rescue Dogs Major’s Cabinet.

So, take some time this Sunday to help “indogurate” Major, and ease the heightened emotions caused by this past week’s riots. Spending my day surrounded by dogs – even virtually – could not be a better use of my time.
